Inside Our Organic Certification

Everyone knows that good cider begins with the best apples—and we are thrilled to share that ours are now certified organic.

Our main orchard at 43 Wagner Lane is has received its Organic Certificate from the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York. Our beautiful orchard—with over twelve acres, containing some 1500 apple and pear trees—is now officially organic.

This means that the way we grow our apples and pears is officially aligned with the USDA National Organic Program standards. This includes careful attention to things like soil fertility, because healthy dirt makes for healthy trees. Only sprays or amendments listed as approved can be applied to the orchards and the buffer zones surrounding those orchards.

It also means that we must practice a “PAMS” strategy to manage pests: prevention, avoidance, monitoring and suppression.

We work tirelessly to ensure that each tree produces only the best quality fruit, and apples and pears picked from these organic trees are kept separate from non-organic fruit, and carefully labeled.

We are thrilled to continue creating our acclaimed ciders with organic fruit.
