FAQs
Why are you called The Boarding House?
Back in the day, a boarding house was a residential home that provided visitors with lodging and meals.
While Seminary Hill's Boarding House is a full-service, MICHELIN Key boutique hotel, it evokes the homes of our grandparents and great-grandparents, who were Callicoon farmers. They welcomed boarders visiting Callicoon and served them farm-to-table meals decades before the term was popular.
Is the hotel pet friendly?
Yes! There's a $100 pet fee, excluding tax.
When bringing your pet to The Tasting Room, note that pets are only permitted outdoors on the patio following New York State guidelines.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, there is a complimentary breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings for guests of The Boarding House.
If you're staying at one of our other properties, please note that breakfast is for guests of The Boarding House only. You're welcome to join us for brunch, served on Saturday and Sunday mornings at The Tasting Room!
Alternatively, we enjoy The Kitchen Table Cafe on Lower Main Street, which opens at 9 am daily.
Is the hotel near The Tasting Room?
Yes! The Boarding House is located at 8 Hospital Road, just 0.9 miles (3-minute drive) from The Tasting Room, our full-service restaurant, and the cidery, where we host weekly tours and tastings, both located at 43 Wagner Lane.
Can I walk into town?
Yes! The Boarding House is directly across the street from the hamlet of Callicoon.
It's a 0.2 mile (5-minute) walk to Lower Main Street, where you'll find Black Walnut, Spruce Home Goods, Callicoon Wine Merchant, the Callicoon Farmers' Market, Kitchen Table Cafe, Lee Hartwell Antiques, and many more local businesses.
